The world-renowned DragonCon Parade is back and open to everyone in 2023. This year’s parade will be held in downtown Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 at 10 am.
The annual DragonCon parade will roll through the streets of downtown Atlanta on September 2nd, and you never know who (or what) you might see. DragonCon is one of the biggest science fiction conventions in the country, and the parade is its most popular event. This is a great photo op with all the characters and elaborate costumes. And after the parade, it’s the perfect place for street photography.
75,000 people are expected to attend the parade, so it’s recommended you arrive early to grab a spot up front. It’s also best to take Marta instead of driving downtown.
There are many places to view and photograph the parade, and we’ve had great success from the Peachtree Street bridge where it crosses over I-75/I-85. Take Marta to the Civic Center station and walk down to Peachtree Street. Go across the street, and you should see us at the far end of the bridge.
The parade starts at 10 am, and we’ll be there about 8 am. After the parade, we usually grab lunch and then spend the afternoon doing street photography as there will be hundreds of folks still dressed in costume walking the streets.
DragonCon is always fun, and we hope to see you there!
