NGPC August Meeting: Jenny Burdette & Mike Ramy “The Wilderness Photography Foundation”

Join us for our August meeting at our new home – the Bowen Center for the Arts! Yes, we will be in person again at the Bowen, 334 GA-9, Dawsonville, GA. Parking is very limited, so you will need to park next door to the Bowen in the Dawson County Junior High parking lot. Our speakers will be Jenny Burdette and Mike Ramy, founding members of the Wilderness Photography Foundation. They will be discussing the opportunities created by the WPF to showcase your photographic talents of capturing the beauty of wildlife and valuable ecosystems. WPF’s goal is to use the medium of photography to increase awareness of these ecosystems and the importance of nature preservation. Mike and Jenny will show a short video highlighting the beauty of Georgia’s Okefenokee Swamp and the perilous situation the swamp now faces, followed by a discussion of how your photography can help. The Wilderness Photography Foundation will be hosting a photo competition/exhibit illustrating the beauty of swamp and wetland areas. The competition will culminate in a traveling exhibit of winning images to be displayed in galleries around the state. WPF will use photography to help endangered wetlands and at the same time promote the art form of photography and provide state-wide recognition for the photographers involved.
