Balloon Launch Party

Watch and photograph a few dozen hot air balloon crews as they inflate and launch in this annual race. You are allowed to wander among the balloons as they are being prepared, and you will find the crews very willing to talk and explain what they’re doing. Just be careful to avoid getting knocked over by a balloon being raised. The parking opens about 6:00 am, and the balloons arrive about 7;00 am. Launch is about 7:30 am. Parking will cost $5/car. The field can be muddy, so be prepared. The event IS WEATHER-DEPENDENT. No launch if the wind is not blowing in the desired direction, but that decision is made only at 6:45 am each day.
